The Pentagon has been boosting military presence in the South after the North’s recent nuclear test. It sent two B-1B Lancer bombers to the air base near Seoul and is reportedly planning to forward-deploy an aircraft carrier in the region.

"These extremely reckless provocations of the U.S. imperialist warmongers are pushing the situation on the Korean peninsula to the point of explosion hour by hour," Pyongyang’s statement, published by the state news agency KCNA read, Sputnik reported.

KCNA emphasized that the Korean People's Army had the means to counter all US acts of aggression and provocation, and was closely watching its military activity on the Korean peninsula.
