“The hegemonic powers seek to create tension and clashes in different parts of the Islamic world. Thus we should be vigilant in the face of these moves and counter the ideology of violence and extremism in Islamic societies,” President Rouhani said in a meeting with the Indonesian VP on the sidelines of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) summit in Venezuela on Sunday.
Describing the Middle East situation as worrying, President Rouhani said great countries, like Iran and Indonesia, have a heavy responsibility to establish peace and stability in the Muslim world.
For his part, Kalla said Tehran and Jakarta need to enhance cooperation to contribute to peace and stability and thwart the divisive plots to spread conflicts in Muslim countries.
The summit of the NAM, whose members make up about two-thirds of the UN members, was concluded on Venezuela’s Margarita Island on Sunday evening.
