Terrorism Imposed on Region from Outside: Azeri President
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Republic of Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev referred to terrorism as a danger inflicted on the region by outsiders, stressing that regional countries should unite against it.
“The menace of terrorism has been imposed on our region from outside and regional countries should unite and cooperate to fight the threat,” Aliyev said Monday in a meeting with Iranian interior Minister Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli in Baku.
Elsewhere, the Azeri president hailed the growing trend of collaborations between Iran and Azerbaijan in different fields and voiced his country’s willingness to further expand the ties.
Rahmani Fazli, for his part, highlighted cooperation between the two sides in such areas as fighting terrorism and narcotics trafficking and called for expansion of the bilateral relations.
Heading a high-raking delegation, Rahmani Fazli arrived in Baku earlier on Monday morning for an official visit.
In his two-day visit, he is accompanied by a number of Iranian officials, including Deputy Interior Minister Babak Dinparast.
He is scheduled to meet a number of other Azeri officials, including his counterpart.
