German Firms Keen to Contribute to Iran’s Petchem Projects: Official

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Marzieh Shahdaei, head of the National Petrochemical Company of Iran (NPC), said German firms have expressed willingness to become part of petrochemical projects in the Islamic Republic.

A number of German firms, including BASF, Linde Group and Air are in talks with NPC to contribute to Iran’s petrochemical projects, Shahdaei said, as cited by Shana.

The remarks came one week after Germany’s vice-chancellor and economy minister expressed Berlin’s readiness to make more commitments in its trade interaction with Tehran in order to assure Iran’s market that German businesses are not only after making profit.

German companies are not in Iran just to earn a profit and return home, Sigmar Gabriel said on October 3, while on an official visit to the Iranian capital.

Shahdaie further said, “The Germans want technical and economic studies without signing any deal.”

Several German business delegations have travelled to Iran since coming into force in January of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), a nuclear agreement between Tehran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany).
