Davoudi, Roshani Win Gold, Silver at Asian Youth Weightlifting Championship

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian heavyweight weightlifters Ali Davoudi and Mohammadreza Roshani claimed gold and silver medals, respectively, in the Asian Youth Weightlifting Championship on Tuesday.

Davoudi won a gold medal in the +94kg weight class after lifting 166kg in the snatch and 200kg in the clean and jerk for a total of 366kg.

Silver medal went to his countryman Roshani who lifted 327kg in aggregate.

He lifted 152kg in the snatch and 175kg in the clean and jerk.

Sheng-Lun Lin from Chinese Taipei won the bronze medal with an aggregate of 327kg.

Iran’s Taghi Aghazadeh and Ahmad Ahmadnejad had already claimed gold and silver medals in the 77kg as well as a bronze medal in the 69kg which went to Eshaq Zaab.

The competition is being held at the Otaku City Gymnasium in Tokyo, Japan from November 8 to 16.
