Iran Beats Saudi Arabia at Asian Water Polo Championship

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran beat Saudi Arabia to book a place at the Asian Water Polo Championship semi-final.

The Iranian team defeated Saudi Arabia 15-6 on Thursday.

Iran started the campaign with an 8-4 victory over Singapore but lost to titleholder Kazakhstan 14-4 in its second match.

The Persians beat Hong Kong 19-8 and qualified for the knockout stage as the second-placed team.

The team is headed by Serbian coach Aleksandar Ciric.

Host Japan, the Philippines, and China are the other teams participating in the competition.

The water polo contest is underway at the Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium indoor pool.
