Iran’s Zahra Pouresmaeil Takes Goal at World Taekwondo Junior Championships

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Zahra Pouresmaeil of Iran took a gold medal on the fifth and final day of the 2016 World Taekwondo Junior Championships.

In the final match of the Female +68kg weight class, the Iranian girl defeated Yun Ci Pan of Chinese Taipei 5-4.

She also defeated rivals from Greece, Spain, and South Korea in the weight class.

Bronzes were shared by Do-hee Yoon of Korea and Rebecca McGowan of Great Britain.

Iran’s Amir Mohammad Bakhshi and Mobina Nejad Katesari had already won two gold medals in the Male -63kg class and Female -42kg respectively.

Ebrahim Safari seized a silver medal in the Male -51kg classes and Mobina Babalou in the Female -55kg class, Ali Baseri in the Male -55kg and Parisa Javadi Kouchaksarei in the Female -63kg won three bronze medals.

The five-day competition brought 846 competitors and 458 officials from 102 countries together in Burnaby, Canada.
