Iranian Team in Geneva for UN Human Rights Meeting

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran has sent a delegation to Switzerland for an annual meeting of a forum established by the United Nations Human Rights Council for closer dialogue and cooperation on issues pertaining to national, ethnic, religious or linguistic minorities.

Led by deputy head of the Iranian Judiciary's Human Rights Council, Kazem Gharibabadi, the Iranian delegation includes Assyrian lawmaker Yonathan Betkolia, as well as government and judiciary officials.

Iran’s representative at the forum meeting will reportedly express Tehran’s stances on the problems that minorities may face in critical conditions.

The Forum on Minority Issues meets annually for two working days allocated to thematic discussions to identify the best practices, challenges, opportunities and initiatives for the further implementation of the Declaration on the Rights of Persons Belonging to National or Ethnic, Religious and Linguistic Minorities.
