Iran, Thailand Sign Deal to Carry Out Studies on 3 Oil Fields

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) and Thailand’s PTT Exploration and Production Public Company Limited (PTTEP) signed an initial agreement to study three major oil fields in Iran.

On Tuesday, Iran and Thailand signed a memorandum of understanding whereby PTTEP, an oil and gas exploration and production company, will carry out preliminary studies over Changuleh, Balal and Dalamperi oil fields in Iran’s south within six months, Shana news agency reported.

Following the signing ceremony in Tehran, Gholamreza Manouchehri, the deputy head of the NIOC, said that several other international companies had also won agreements to study the three fields.

A similar agreement had earlier been signed with Norway’s DNO for studying Changuleh which sits on Iran’s border with Iraq in the western province of Ilam.

Executive Vice President of PTTEP Prapat Soponpongpipat also expressed the hope that the agreement with Iran would lead to at least one contract for an oil field, according to the report.
