TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The head of the Iranian Parliament’s Judicial and Legal Affairs Commission Allahyar Malekshahi and Italy’s Undersecretary of the Council of Ministers Filippo Patroni Griffi explored avenues for closer parliamentary relations between the two countries.

Speaking at the meeting in Tehran on Monday, Malekshahi praised “the good ties” between Iran and Italy and expressed the hope that such meetings would help to further boost the friendly relations between Tehran and Rome.

He also said exchange of experiences between the Islamic Republic and Italy can play a major role in helping judicial institutions in the two countries.

Italian Ambassador to Tehran Mauro Conciatori who was also present at the meeting said his country’s parliament speaker will make an official visit to Tehran next month and meet with Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani.

In a message in June to congratulate Larijani on his re-election as speaker of Iran’s new parliament, Italy’s Lower House President Laura Boldrini pointed to the friendly and age-old ties between Iran and Italy and underlined the need for closer parliamentary interaction between the two countries.

Highlighting the importance of enhancing inter-parliamentary cooperation, she said Iran-Italy parliamentary cooperation group will be formed in her country’s lower house.
