10-Man Persepolis Defeats Saipa in Iran Professional League
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Persepolis football team returned to top of Iran Professional League (IPL) by beating Saipa on Friday.
In the match held in front of about 60,000 cheering spectators in Tehran’s Azadi Stadium, Persepolis defeated Saipa 1-0, thanks to Mehdi Taremi’s 47th minute goal.
In the 55th minute, Persepolis player Farshad Ahmadzadeh was shown a red card for grabbing Saipa player just outside the penalty area.
Zoba Ahan beat Siahjamegan 1-0 in Isfahan’s Fooladshahr Stadium.
Yasser Feizi scored the only goal of the match in the 67th minute.
Rock-bottom Machine Sazi was held to a goalless draw by Foolad and Padideh drew 1-1 with Sepahan.
Persepolis moved two points clear of Tractor Sazi at the top of the IPL table.
