Iran’s War Games Don't Have to Do with Political Issues: Top General

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Major General Mohammad Hossein Baqeri said the country’s military drills take place according to prearranged plans and have nothing to do with some countries’ war rhetoric against Tehran or political issues.

Speaking to reporters in Tehran on Thursday, Major General Baqeri said the Iranian Armed Forces stage military exercises on schedule to boost coordination.

“These war games are not related to threats posed by some countries and the political issues of the day,” the commander said.

He further highlighted the good security level across the country and said there is no security problem in Iranian territories in air, land, and sea.

Iran is considered by many experts as the “island of stability” in a region which faces many security challenges.

In August 2016, Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei highlighted the strong security in Iran despite crises and insecurity in the region.

“Thank God and through the appreciated efforts and endeavors of the military and security forces, the country enjoys a strong security shield while regional countries are filled with incidents and insecurity,” the Leader said.
