Syrian Forces Liberate Areas in Suwayda from Daesh Terrorists

DAMASCUS (Tasnim) – Syrian army troops backed by allied forces managed to liberate 300 square kilometers of land in the Southern province of Suwayda from the Daesh (ISIS or ISIL) terrorist group, killing a number of the foreign-backed militants.

According to Tasnim dispatches, Syrian forces retook full control over some villages and townships in Suwayda province, including Tall Asfar and Bi'r Qassab, clearing an area of 300 square kilometers from Daesh terrorists.

The areas located northeast of Suwayda were liberated following the army’s massive attack, which forced the terrorists to flee to Raqqa.

In another development, the Syrian forces managed to liberate several districts in the northwestern suburbs of Palmyra and eastern suburbs of Homs after heavy clashes with Daesh terrorists, which led to the killing of a number of them.

The advance came a few days after the Syrian army recaptured a key area in Jobar, which lies on the outskirts of the capital, Damascus, following intense fighting with al-Nusra terrorists.

Syria has been gripped by civil war since March 2011 with various terrorist groups, including Daesh, currently controlling parts of it.

According to a report by the Syrian Center for Policy Research, the conflict has claimed the lives of over 470,000 people, injured 1.9 million others, and displaced nearly half of the country’s pre-war population of about 23 million within or beyond its borders.
