Syria Army Inflicts Losses on Terrorists in Daraa, Deir Ez-Zor

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Syria’s army and its allies continued to make gains in their military campaign against Takfiri terrorists in the provinces of Daraa and Deir ez-Zor, inflicting major losses on them.

Syrian forces on Friday targeted the gathering centers of Jabhat Fatah al-Sham (formerly known as al-Nusra Front) terrorist group in the areas of al-Sad, al-Karak and Daraa al-Balad in Daraa, leaving a large group of them the southwestern province, Syria’s official SANA news agency reported.

In the northern countryside of the province, the Syrian warplanes destroyed six vehicles and a bulldozer belonging to the terrorists in the towns of al-Hrak, al-Rajom, and al-Lajat.

In a separate development, the positions of the Daesh (ISIL or ISIS) terror group were hit in the areas of al-Tharda, al-Makabat, and al-Mayaden in the eastern province of Deir ez-Zor.

Over the past six years, Syria has been fighting foreign-sponsored militancy. UN Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura estimated in August that more than 400,000 people had been killed in the Syrian crisis until then. The UN has stopped its official casualty count in Syria, citing its inability to verify the figures it receives from various sources.
