Yemeni Forces Kill 16 Saudi Mercenaries in Ma’rib, Hajjah

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Yemeni army soldiers, backed by fighters from allied Popular Committees, launched an operation against the positions of Saudi-backed militants in the war-torn country's central province of Ma'rib, killing more than 11 mercenaries.

At least eleven militants, including a top commander, were killed in the city of Sirwah after Yemeni forces targeted their gathering centers in Ma’rib on Saturday, Yemen’s official Saba news agency reported.

Separately, the army and their allies killed five Saudi mercenaries in Midi District of the northwestern Hajjah province on Saturday.

The attacks by the Yemeni forces were carried out in retaliation for the continued massacre of civilians by the Saudi-led coalition in Yemen.

Since March 25, 2015, Saudi Arabia and some of its Arab allies have been carrying out airstrikes against the Houthi Ansarullah movement in an attempt to restore power to Hadi.

According to Yemen’s Legal Center of Rights and Development, the Saudi campaign has claimed the lives of over 12,000 Yemenis and left more than 20,000 others wounded.
