Iran Wins Asian Greco-Roman Wrestling Championship

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran claimed the title of the 2017 Asian Greco-Roman Wrestling Championship on Thursday.

The Iranian team won three gold medals and one bronze in the competition underway in New Delhi, India.

Ramin Taheri claimed a gold medal in the 80kg, beating South Korean Kim June-hyoung.

Mostafa Salehizadeh took the gold medal in the 98kg weight category, defeating Kim Seung-jun from South Korea.

In the 130kg category, Behnam Mehdizadeh beat Damir Kuzembayev from Kazakhstan and seized the gold medal.

Ali Arsalan grabbed a bronze medal in the 66 kg weight category.

Oh Sang-hun from South Korea won the gold medal in this weight after defeating Kazakhstan’s Almat Kebispayev.

The 2017 Asian Wrestling Championships (Greco-Roman, Freestyle) are being held at the KD Jadhav Indoor Stadium, Indira Gandhi Arena, New Delhi in India. The event kicked off on May 10 and will finish on May 14.
