Changes Planned in Foreign Ministry to Serve Resistance Economy: Iranian MP

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The vice-chairman of the Iranian Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission said the structure of the country’s foreign ministry would be modified in the near future in a bid to realize the objectives of Resistance Economy plan.

“Measures should be taken both at home and abroad to help implement (the policies of) the economy of resistance,” Abolfazl Hassanbeigi told Tasnim on Saturday.

He added that a number of meetings were held recently between the foreign ministry’s officials and members of the parliamentary commission to that end.

During the gatherings, it was decided that the structure of Iran’s diplomatic apparatus should serve the country’s economy and therefore it needs to have some changes based on the Islamic Republic’s causes, Hassanbeigi further said.

Two economic desks will be set up at the foreign ministry and there will be one established in every Iranian embassy abroad, he said.

Back in 2014, Ayatollah Khamenei sent a proclamation to heads of Iran’s branches of power and outlined general policies to boost the country’s economy and lower its vulnerabilities under a grand plan, dubbed Resistance Economy.

The proclamation, laying out a grand plan for Resistance Economy in Iran, was issued after consultations with the country’s Expediency Council and based upon the Clause 1 of Article 110 of the Iranian Constitution.

The Leader also described Resistance Economy as a dynamic and long-term strategy that can help Iran realize its economic objectives.
