Only Iran, Resistance Front Said No to US: Palestinian Figure
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – A senior member of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad Movement praised Iran for backing the Palestinian nation against Israel and the “arrogant” powers, saying only the Islamic Republic and the Resistance Front have been opposed to the US hegemony.
Speaking to the Tasnim News Agency, Sheikh Saeed Nakhla slammed certain Arab states for failing to side with Palestinians against the US despite their claims of supporting the anti-Israeli resistance.
“Unfortunately, (Arab countries) do not care about Al-Quds (Jerusalem) or those who are living in the holy city,” he said, adding that they do not care about al-Aqsa Mosque, either.
The Palestinian leader said Iran, however, has always backed Quds and Palestine, adding that Iranians “powerfully said no to the global arrogance (the US)”.
No Arab states have said no to the US, and it is only the Palestinian resistance that has remained opposed to the US hegemony alongside with Iran, Nakhla said.
He also lauded Iran for initiating the International Quds Day.
Each year at the end of the holy month of Ramadan, Iranians and other Muslims worldwide hold rallies to mark the International Quds Day in a show of support for the oppressed people of Palestine and opposition to the occupation of the Palestinian territories by the Zionist regime of Israel.
The day is also seen as the legacy of the late founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Imam Khomeini, who officially declared the last Friday of the holy month of Ramadan as International Quds Day back in 1979.
