Iran’s Zarif Slams Trump’s Reactions to Racist Moves in US
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif denounced US President Donald Trump’s hostilities toward Muslims and said when it comes to “racist terror at home”, he hesitates to condemn the moves.
“Quick to insult Islam but hesitant to condemn racist terror at home,” Zarif said on his official Twitter account on Saturday.
“Terror in name of race or religion is plain terror & represents neither,” the Iranian top diplomat added in his tweet.
Zarif made the comments in response to Trump’s reaction to a recent terrorist attack in Charlottesville, Virginia, in which a car ploughed into the crowd of anti-racist and anti-fascist protesters.
Trump insisted that there was “blame on both sides”, including anti-fascist protesters.
His comments have drawn widespread criticism from many on all sides of the political spectrum.
