New Venezuelan Constitution to Be Subject to People's Referendum

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - The new Constitution of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela will be subject to a people's referendum, in accordance with the decision of delegates to the National Constituent Assembly, who unanimously ratified the proposal.

The decision was adopted during a working session of the plenipotentiary body of Venezuelan Original Power, which also reaffirmed the lasting validity of current 1999 Constitution, in all those articles inconsistent with legal acts and ANC decisions.

ANC also passed the first article of Statutes of this supreme legislative body, which establishes, among other things, that the authorities are subordinate to Constituent Power. In this regard, it will comply and enforce the legal acts and actions drawn up by these authorities, Prensa Latina reported.

Likewise, Article-2 was passed, establishing peace and peaceful coexistence as grounds for the development of the nation and Venezuelan society, as well as for ecological culture, increase in value the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB), guarantee for women's future and gender equity.

Among the ANC elected representatives, 21 commissions will be set up, responsible for dealing with several issues inherent in the economy, politics, sovereignty and justice.

ANC President Delcy Rodriguez said that next working session is scheduled for Tuesday, next week.
