Iran President Congratulates Kyrgyzstan on National Day

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian President Hassan Rouhani offered his congratulations to the Kyrgyzstan people and government over the central Asian country’s Independence Day.

In a message to Kyrgyzstan President Almazbek Atambayev on Friday, Rouhani congratulated the 26th anniversary of this country’s independence and expressed the hope that Tehran-Bishkek relations would develop day by day in line with the interests of the two countries.

The Iranian president also wished health and success for Atambayev and prosperity and glory for the people of Kyrgyzstan.

August 31, 1991 is the day when Kyrgyzstan got independent from the Soviet Union. The Supreme Council of the Kyrgyz Republic adopted a Declaration of Independence of Kyrgyzstan, 26 years ago.

The historic document was inked by Chairman of the Supreme Council Medetkan Sherimkulov. The document gave a start for the history of sovereign Kyrgyz state.
