TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Realizing how severe Iran’s response to an aggression would be, the adversaries have backed off from the option of taking military action against the country, the lieutenant commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) said.

Addressing a ceremony marking the National Day of Fight against Global Arrogance in the city of Qom on Saturday, Brigadier General Hossein Salami said US officials would not dare to think about the option of military action against Iran.

In case of war, the American forces will have to flee the region, the general stressed.

He also derided as a “childish dream” the notion that Iran would abandon its plans to boost military power.

Last week, Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei categorically rejected the idea of negotiations on Iran’s defense power, stressing that the country will press ahead with the plans to boost its might and build up its defense capabilities.

The adversaries are opposed to the enhancement of the Islamic Republic of Iran’s power in the region and beyond because such power constitutes the “strategic depth of the Islamic Establishment,” Ayatollah Khamenei said.
