Iran Runner-Up at Karate 1-Series A

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran became vice champion at the Karate 1-Series A held in Okinawa, Japan.

The Iranian team finished in second place, winning two gold, one silver and three bronze medals.

Amir Mehdizadeh in Male Kumite -60kg and Saleh Abazari in Male Kumite +84kg claimed two titles.

Sara Bahmanyar won the silver at Female Kumite -50kg.

Mobina Kaviani in Female Kumite -68kg, Mehdi Gharaizadeh in Kumite Male -84kg and Hadi Arab in Kumite Male +84kg claimed three bronze medals.

Host Japan won the title with seven gold, five silver and 10 bronze medals.

Italy came third, seizing one gold, one silver and three bronze medals.

Nearly 800 competitors from 67 countries took part in the last Karate 1-Series A of the year.

The tournament was held in Okinawa from November 25-26.
