The cooperation agreement was signed between Kamal Kharrazi, secretary of the department on development of cognitive science and technology at the Vice-President’s Office for Science and Technology Affairs, and the representative of CAPES, a foundation within Brazil’s Ministry of Education.
Based on the agreement, Iranian and Brazilian universities and research centers will work on joint projects and exchange professors and students in the field of cognitive sciences.
CAPES Foundation was established in 1951 within the Ministry of Higher Education of Brazil, as a government agency awarding scholarship grants to graduate students at universities and research centers in Brazil and abroad.
The relations between Iran and Brazil date back to 1903. In 1957, they signed a cultural agreement, which came into force in 1962. The agreement marked the elevation of the Brazilian legation in Tehran to the condition of the embassy.
