Iran’s DM Urges Joint Action against Extremism in New Year Message
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – In separate messages to his foreign counterparts on New Year’s Eve, Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Amir Hatami hoped that 2018 would mark close international cooperation in the fight against terrorism and extremism.
On Sunday, the Iranian minister sent congratulatory messages to his counterparts in Russia, Armenia, Belarus, South Africa, North Korea, Serbia, Poland, Greece, Venezuela, Italy, Brazil, Bolivia, Cuba, Austria, and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Congratulating those countries and their armed forces on the birth anniversary of Jesus Christ and the beginning of 2018, the general hoped for concerted action in the fight against violence, extremism and terrorism.
He also expressed the hope for stronger military and security cooperation between Tehran and those nations in the new year.
In his New Year’s message to Pope Francis a few days ago, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani has also called for efforts to create a world full of peace and moderation and “free from violence and extremism.”
