Mehdi Taremi Handed Al Gharafa’s No. 9 Jersey

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian striker Mehdi Taremi was officially presented as an Al Gharafa player on Wednesday.

Taremi was given the number 9 shirt by legendary Gharafa and Iraqi player Younes Mahmoud.

The 25-year-old has signed an 18-month contract with the mid-table side and could make his debut as early as Saturday when Al Gharafa takes on Umm Salal in a QNB Stars League match, qatar-tribune.com wrote. 

The former Persepolis star said he was excited to be in Qatar and could not wait to play football again after a serving a four-month FIFA ban for breaching his contract with Turkish club 'c7aykur Rizespor in June 2016, when he reached an agreement to join the club but later returned to Persepolis.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mehdi said: “I am excited to sign for Gharafa and to play football in Qatar. I want to win with the club and I hope to give my best for the team to succeed.”
