Iran Claims World Super 6 Sitting Volleyball Title

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran defeated Russia in straight sets to win the World Super 6 sitting volleyball in Tabriz on Tuesday.

Having gone through its five pool matches undefeated, the Paralympic champion capped off its tournament with another victory at the Sadra Sports Hall.

Iran overpowered Russia 3-0 (25-21, 25-23, 28-26) in the final match.

“I am satisfied with our performance in the competition. I am also glad for discovering new talented players in the event. I think the future is bright for Iran sitting volleyball,” Iran coach Hadi Rezaei said.

In the bronze medal match, Bosnia and Herzegovina defeated Ukraine 3-0 (25-21, 25-18, 25-20).

Germany finished fifth after overcoming the United States 25-18, 31-29, 23-25, 25-19 in a play-off.

This is the second edition of the international competition, which only included women’s teams last year and saw Russia take the gold medal in Hangzhou in China.
