Assad Lauds Syrian Army’s Devotion to Duty

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Syrian President Bashar al-Assad praised the Army for its successive victories in the war against terrorist groups and their sponsors, saying the Syrian military forces’ steadfast battle has thwarted the Zionist-American plots.

In a message on the 73rd anniversary of formation of the Syrian Army, President Assad said the Army’s struggle against terrorist groups and its successive victories over the past seven years have brought glory to the Arab nation and have proved the military forces’ devotion to duty and patriotism.

Thanks to the Army’s devotion, security and stability have been restored in most of Syria, from Homs, Palmyra, Qalamun and Deir ez-Zor to Eastern Ghouta and the Deir ez-Zor desert, the president added, noting that many other cities and villages have been also recaptured from the terrorists that benefitted from the military and financial support of foreigners.

The Syrian Army humiliated the terrorist groups and shattered a series of Zionist-American plots, Assad noted.

Last week, Syrian troops raised the national flag in Al-Tahrir square of Quneitra city and played the national anthem to mark the victory over the terrorists that controlled the city for more than four years.

For more than four, the terrorist groups have had control over the town as well as large parts of southwestern Syria, forcing a UN peacekeeping force there to evacuate.

The celebrations in Quneitra took place as Syrian army soldiers finalized their deployment to restore control over the area for the first time since 2014.
