Iran Football Advances to Next Stage as First Team: Asian Games
TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran U-23 football team lost to Myanmar but advanced to the next stage as the first team.
On Monday, the Iranian team lost to Myanmar 2-0 at the Patriot Stadium in Group F.
Lwin Moe Aung gave Myanmar the lead in the 56th minute and Htet Phyo Wai extended the lead in the 68th minute.
Elsewhere, Saudi Arabia lost to North Korea 3-0 in the same group.
Iran advanced as Group F winner with DPR Korea joining it automatically as runner-up, while the Saudis are also through as one of the four-best third-placed teams.
Iran will play Group E runner-up on Thursday.
Football at the 2018 Asian Games is being held from 14 August to 1 September 2018 in Indonesia.
In addition to the host city, Palembang, matches will be played in Bekasi, Cibinong, Cikarang, and Soreang.
