Iranian Army Unveils Advanced Homegrown Gears

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Iranian Army’s Ground Force on Wednesday unveiled a number of domestically made state-of-the-art military gears, including a jamming device that can be installed on drones.

The latest military achievements were unveiled in a ceremony in Tehran on Wednesday attended by Commander of the Iranian Army Ground Force Brigadier General Kiomars Heidari.

Among the military gears unveiled in the event was the Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR), which is capable of imaging at night and day and in cloudy and dusty weather and can be mounted on drones.

The SAR is a form of radar that is used to create two- or three-dimensional images of objects, such as landscapes. SAR uses the motion of the radar antenna over a target region to provide finer spatial resolution than conventional beam-scanning radars. SAR is typically mounted on a moving platform, such as an aircraft or spacecraft, and has its origins in an advanced form of side-looking airborne radar (SLAR).

Another achievement put on display on Wednesday was a jamming system that can be mounted on drones with the capability to jam signals of spy drones and multi-rotors.

Iranian military experts and technicians have in recent years made great headways in manufacturing a broad range of indigenous equipment, making the armed forces self-sufficient in the arms sphere.

Iranian officials have repeatedly underscored that the country will not hesitate to strengthen its military capabilities, including its missiles, which are entirely meant for defense, and that Iran’s defense capabilities will be never subject to negotiations.

Back in February 2018, Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei called for efforts to maintain and boost Iran’s defense capabilities, hitting back at the enemies for disputing the country’s missile program.

“Without a moment of hesitation, the country must move to acquire whatever is necessary for defense, even if the whole world is opposed to it,” Ayatollah Khamenei said on February 18.
