US: Trump’s Visit Sparks Angry Protests in Pittsburgh (+Video)

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Jewish leaders and mourners took part in a rally in Pittsburgh on Tuesday to protest against US President Donald Trump’s visit to the Tree of Life synagogue.

The protesters were also calling Trump to denounce white nationalism following the shooting that left 11 dead.

Around three thousand people gathered at Squirrel Hill and marched towards the Tree of Life Synagogue, while Trump was visiting the scene of Saturday’s shooting that left 11 people dead.

When Trump's presidential cortege left the area, the protesters turned their backs as an act of protest. The US President made his trip amid multiple calls from prominent Pittsburgh leaders to stay away.

"President Trump, you are not welcome in Pittsburgh until you commit yourself to compassionate democratic policies that recognize a dignity in all of us," stated activist speakers.

"Oh my god he absolutely should not have come, he is the one that caused all this. His hatred, his speech is so full of hate, it just entices people, wackos, to go out and do it."
