Iranian, Ex-Afghan Officials Discuss Tehran-Kabul Security Cooperation

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Ali Shamkhani and Afghanistan’s former national security advisors held a meeting in Kabul to review the security interaction between the two neighbors in recent years.

At the conclusion of his one-day visit to Afghanistan on Wednesday evening, Shamkhani held the meeting with former national security advisors of Afghanistan at Iran’s embassy in Kabul.

In the gathering, Shamkhani and the Afghan ex-officials -Zalmai Rassoul, Rangin Dadfar Spanta, and Mohammad Hanif Atmar- reviewed the process of security cooperation between Tehran and Kabul under the former and incumbent Afghan presidents.

They also discussed the latest regional and international developments and their impact on the two neighboring countries’ security.

Accompanied by a number of senior Iranian security, military and political officials, Shamkhani paid an official visit to Kabul on Wednesday.
