“Iran and China are two countries with historical civilization and have always had close ties with each other,” Larijani told reporters at Tehran’s Mehrabad Airport on Monday before his departure to China.
The Silk Road is the manifestation of these civilizational connections between the two countries, the parliament speaker added.
He further emphasized that there has always been a high level of political consultation as well as economic and parliamentary cooperation between the two countries in recent decades.
Larijani would visit China at the official invitation of the parliament speaker of the East Asian country.
Iran and China have close diplomatic, economic, trade and energy ties, and in recent years have taken steps to further develop their relations in various fields.
