Rallies Held in Iran in Support of IRGC

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – People attended rallies across Iran on Friday to express support for the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) which has been blacklisted by the US government.

Iranian worshippers held rallies following the Friday prayers in all cities to condemn the US move to designate the IRGC a terrorist organization.

In capital Tehran, the demonstration began from the University of Tehran with thousands of people chanting ‘Death to America’ and ‘Death to Israel’ slogans.

US President Donald Trump announced on Monday that Washington is designating the IRGC a foreign “terrorist organization”, marking the first time the US has formally labelled another country's military a terrorist group.

Responding to the move, Iran’s Supreme National Security Council immediately declared the US as a state sponsor of terrorism and US forces in the region terrorists.

The SNSC said it has put CENTCOM on its terror list as a “reciprocal measure” against the US “illegal and unwise” move.

In a letter to the UN chief, Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif has cautioned that the US and a number of puppet regimes will be held accountable for the dire consequences of the adventurous move to blacklist the IRGC.
