Speaking to reporters after the Wednesday meeting with Guterres, Zarif said their talks revolved around bilateral issues, the US’ unlawful actions regarding the situation in Palestine and its recognition of the Golan Heights and al-Quds as parts of Israel, and its illegal policies on Syria, Libya, North Africa and Yemen.

Asked why the meeting took longer than usual, Zarif said they have also discussed Washington’s illegal measures against Iran and reviewed all the issues the UN is currently trying to address.

Zarif has traveled to New York for of a High-Level Plenary Meeting of the General Assembly to commemorate and promote the International Day of Multilateralism and Diplomacy for Peace, held on Wednesday.

The top Iranian diplomat has also delivered a speech to the UN General Assembly on the threat of US unilateralism in the world.
