Zarif Holds Meetings in Doha

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif held talks with a number of his counterparts on the sidelines of the 16th ministerial meeting of the Asia Cooperation Dialogue (ACD) in Qatar.

Zarif and his diplomatic delegation held separate meetings with the foreign participants in the ACD conference in Doha on Wednesday.

In one of the meetings, Zarif and Foreign Minister of Turkey Mevlut Cavusoglu talked about Tehran-Ankara ties and major regional and international developments.

The top Iranian diplomat also held talks with his Qatari counterpart Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani.

In another meeting with Foreign Minister of Sri Lanka Tilak Marapana, Zarif once again condemned the recent terrorist attacks in the South Asian country.

Denouncing terrorism as a global threat, the Iranian minister voiced Tehran’s readiness for cooperation to uproot terrorism.

Zarif and Marapana also discussed the trade ties between Iran and Sri Lanka.

A group of terrorists detonated explosives at several hotels and churches in Sri Lanka two weeks ago, marking the deadliest terrorist incidents since 9/11.

Last week, health officials in Sri Lanka put the death toll at around 250.
