In a post on his Twitter account on Sunday, Hamid Baeidinejad said, “Entrance and the pavement are the essential parts of the Iran Embassy building and needs to be cleared of persons and media to ensure security and peace of mind for diplomats entering the Embassy. Civil protest should be organized at other side of street under Police supervision.”
The ambassador’s complaint came after the husband of Nazanin Zaghari, a dual Iranian-British citizen jailed in Iran on espionage charges, spent Saturday night in a tent outside the Iranian Embassy in London, in an apparent attempt to secure the release of his wife.
In another message in Persian, Baeidinejad said, “Despite several warnings to the UK Police and Foreign Office, a number of people spent yesterday and last night in front of the embassy by blocking the way. Today, in addition to those individuals, the media (people) also gathered in front of the Embassy to make reports. The pavement in front of the Embassy is still blocked and it is not possible for the diplomats to move.”
“A few demonstrators continue to block today sole entrance of Iran’s Embassy in London and prevented the diplomats to enter into the building. Saturdays and Sundays are working days in Iran and diplomatic staff arrange some parts of their work with their capital in these two days,” the ambassador wrote in English.
