TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Afghan officials say at least 14 people have been killed and 145 others wounded after Taliban detonated a suicide car bomb in capital Kabul on Wednesday.

A suicide bomber attacked a police station in Kabul on Wednesday, killing mostly civilians, in what officials have described as one of the worst attacks in the capital this year, Independent reported.

Police spokesperson Firdaus Faramarz said the bomber detonated a car packed with explosives at a security checkpoint outside the police headquarters in a minority Shiite neighborhood of western Kabul.

Ninety-two civilians were wounded in the attack and four police officers were killed, deputy interior minister Khoshal Sadat told reporters.

The attack took place ahead of the Muslim holiday of Eid al-Adha, which begins on Sunday.

The blast came just one day after a US envoy and the Taliban reported progress in talks to negotiate an end to the nearly 18-year war in Afghanistan.
