Yemen Fires 10 Ballistic Missiles at Saudi Airport

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Yemen’s army said it has launched he "biggest-ever" retaliatory attack against Saudi Arabia, firing several ballistic missiles at an airport in southwest of the kingdom, a report said.

World

Ten Badr-1 ballistic missiles were fired at Jizan airport, killing and wounding dozens, the spokesman for Yemeni Armed Forces, Brigadier General Yahya Saree, said on Sunday.

He added that the major strike targeted the hangars of Saudi warplanes and Apache choppers as well as some military sites in the Jizan Airport, Yemen's al-Masirah TV reported.

Later, Riyadh claimed it had intercepted six missiles fired from Yemen.

Saudi Arabia and its allies launched the war on Yemen in March 2015 in an attempt to reinstall the Riyadh-allied former regime and crush the Houthi Ansarullah movement -- objectives that have failed to materialize due to Yemenis’ stiff resistance.

Since the war began, there have been tens of thousands of civilian casualties. Millions of Yemenis now subsist beneath the poverty line and hundreds of thousands of children are suffering and dying from malnutrition.

The Western-backed military aggression, coupled with a naval blockade, has also destroyed Yemen’s infrastructure and led to a massive humanitarian crisis.
