Iran’s Mahram Reaches Agreement with American Basketballer Wayns

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iranian top-flight basketball club Mahram has reached an agreement with American guard Maalik Benjamin Wayns.

Wayns, 29, is an American-born naturalized Belarusian professional basketball player who plays for the Tsmoki-Minsk of VTB United League.

He played high school basketball for Roman Catholic High School in Philadelphia, where he was a Parade All-American as well as a McDonald's All-American before playing college basketball for Villanova University under coach Jay Wright.

Wayns started his playing career with Philadelphia 76ers and has also played for Los Angeles Clippers, Joventut Badalona and Levallois Metropolitans.

Mahram competes in the Iranian Basketball Super League and is considered as one of the giants of Iranian basketball and won the Asian championships twice in 2009 and 2010.

Mahram has won the Iranian Basketball Super League championship a total of six times.
