Iranian Minister: Domestic Production Growing in Nearly All Industries

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s domestic production in all industries, except in the aluminum and automotive industries, has been increasing since the beginning of the current Iranian year, Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade Reza Rahmani said.

In comments on Monday, Rahmani said the Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade had formulated a plan at the beginning of the current Iranian year (March 2019) to stimulate domestic production in various fields with 10 grand measures.

“It was necessary to maintain the current (level of) production for the first step, and, accordingly, we have witnessed a rise in production in all industries, except in two sectors, the production of aluminum and automobiles,” the minister added.

The minister also noted that the domestic production of pharmaceutical products has increased by 31 percent, clothes by 20%, and foodstuff by 15%.

He further unveiled plans to save up to $10 billion in imports with the domestic production of various commodities.

Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei has repeatedly highlighted the need to stimulate domestic production and combat unemployment.

Iran has stepped up efforts in recent years to enhance its non-oil exports and reduce dependence on its oil revenues.
