Iran’s Abbasali to Fight for Gold at Karate 1-Premier League Salzburg

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Hamideh Abbasali from Iran will meet Clio Ferracuti of Italy at the Female Kumite +68kg of the Karate 1-Premier League Salzburg final on Sunday.

The Iranian athlete, who had taken gold in Paris, reached the final stage in Salzburg after beating Maria Torres of Spain 4-3.

Ferracuti had been away from the finals of Karate 1-Premier League since her silver at the event in Tokyo last year. The Italian representative upset Charlotte Grimm of Germany in semi-finals 1-0.

Iran’s Bahman Askari will also meet Stanislav Horuna from Ukraine at the Male Kumite -75kg final match on Sunday.

Over 600 competitors from 88 countries compete at the 2020 Karate 1-Premier League Salzburg. This tally represents a considerable increase with the previous event since 513 competitors from 79 countries took part in the Karate 1-Premier League Dubai.

The tournament started on Friday and the finals are scheduled on Sunday, March 1.
