Minister: Iranian Ports Filled with Basic Commodities

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran’s ports are stuffed full of basic commodities and trucks and trains are queuing up to carry the shipments into the country, Minister of Roads and Urban Development Mohamamd Eslami said.

In remarks on Saturday, Eslami assured people that there are no concerns about a shortage of foodstuff or basic necessities amid the outbreak of the coronavirus epidemic in Iran.

He said the country’s ports are filled with consignments of goods and trains and truck are queuing to ship the basic commodities and grain to cities in the country.

Eslami also highlighted his ministry’s efforts to contain the spread of the coronavirus, saying all passengers are constantly screened for COVID-19 upon entry or exit across the country at the border crossings, ports, airports and train stations.

The coronavirus pandemic has so far killed 3,294 people and infected over 53,000 others in Iran. Nearly 18,000 people have also recovered.
