Coronavirus in Iran: Over 2,200 New Cases Detected

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Of more than 2,240 new coronavirus patients detected in Iran during the past 24 hours, over 1,100 ones have been admitted to the hospital, the Health Ministry’s spokeswoman said.

Speaking at a daily press conference on Monday, Sima Sadat Lari said the total number of people tested positive for COVID-19 in Iran has risen to 361,150 following the detection of 2,245 new cases since Sunday.

Of the new cases detected since yesterday, 1,132 patients have been admitted to the hospital, she added.

Among those undergoing treatment in medical centers at present, 3,848 coronavirus patients have critical health conditions because of more severe infection, Lari noted.

She further put the death toll from COVID-19 in Iran at 20,776, saying the disease has taken the lives of 133 patients over the past 24 hours.

At least 311,365 patients have recovered from the coronavirus infection so far or have been discharged from hospitals across Iran, the spokeswoman said.

Lari also noted that more than 3,062,400 coronavirus diagnostic tests have been carried out in Iran so far.

The number of people infected with COVID-19 across the world has surpassed 23.6 million and the death toll has exceeded 812,000.
