Police Say 7 Shot at Milwaukee Funeral Home

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Seven people were shot at a funeral home in Milwaukee, US state of Wisconsi, on Wednesday, according to police.

Acting Milwaukee Police Department Chief Michael Brunson said that officers were dispatched around 12:45 p.m. and located seven victims upon arrival.

The victims are male and female and range in age between 24 and 28, Brunson said during a news conference. They were taken to a hospital and are in stable condition, he said.

The circumstances are under investigation and police are seeking an unknown suspect, Brunson said, The Hill reported.

“Our prayers are with the victims and their family members during this terrible time,” Brunson said. “This is an untenable situation. This brazen act that was done in broad daylight is just unacceptable in our city.”

Cedric Guy, the owner of Serenity Funeral Home where the people were shot, told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel he was in another part of his business when he heard gunshots around 12:45 p.m.

"Once we heard the shots, we called 911," Guy told the newspaper. "We shut everything down. It just went crazy from there on."

Guy told the newspaper about 100 mourners were at the funeral for Braxton Taylor, 26.

Taylor is the victim of a Sept. 17 homicide that is unsolved, the newspaper reported.

The funeral was reportedly scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. but was postponed after the shooting.
