Iran’s Parliament Speaker, Interior Minister Sympathize with Turkey over Quake

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Iranian Parliament speaker and minister of interior expressed sympathy with Turkey over a large earthquake that struck the Aegean coasts on Friday, voicing the Islamic Republic’s readiness to provide disaster relief for the victims.

In a message to his Turkish counterpart Suleyman Soylu, Iranian Interior Minister Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli expressed condolences on the deaths in the Friday earthquake in Izmir.

The Islamic Republic of Iran is prepared to offer whatever help necessary for the victims of the disaster, he added.

In a separate message to Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey Mustafa Sentop, Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf voiced the parliament’s readiness to coordinate efforts to supply disaster relief aid for the quake-hit Turkish citizens.

Turkish officials confirmed 24 dead and nearly 800 injured after the quake hit the coastal province of Izmir.
