No Renegotiation of JCPOA, Iran’s Zarif Reiterates

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Iran will by no means agree to renegotiate the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said.

Addressing the 6th edition of Mediterranean Dialogues (Rome MED 2020) via videoconference on Thursday, Zarif underlined that Tehran will not hold any new talks on what has already been agreed on in the JCPOA.

Denouncing the US violation of the 2015 nuclear deal, Zarif said, “Washington has breached the (UN) Security Council resolutions, and the Trump administration is a rogue regime. Washington must stop violation of the JCPOA.”

He also reiterated that Iran will fulfill its JCPOA commitments if the Europeans and the US honor the nuclear deal.

The Iranian top diplomat further denounced the crimes that the Saudi regime and its Arab and Western allies have committed against Yemen.

“The West is selling arms to (some) Persian Gulf states to support the war on Yemen. They (Westerners) backed the killing of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi and continue to support Israeli terrorism,” Zarif deplored.

In his address, Zarif also condemned the assassination of eminent Iranian scientist Mohsen Fakhrizadeh as an international act of aggression, saying Iran is still waiting for the UK, France and Germany to condemn the assassination attack.

Mediterranean Dialogues is the annual high-level initiative promoted by Italy’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and ISPI (the Italian Institute for International Political Studies).
