Iran Has New Scenarios, Adviser Warns JCPOA Violators

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Iranian parliament speaker’s international affairs adviser cautioned the US and the three European parties to the 2015 nuclear deal that failure to lift the sanctions will make Iran opt for new scenarios.

In a meeting with Denmark’s ambassador to Tehran, former Iranian deputy foreign minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian said the EU3’ negotiation policy and the lack of serious efforts to terminate the US’ unilateral sanctions against Iran are a waste of opportunity.

“If the anti-Iran sanctions are not removed and the other parties do not honor their commitments, the Islamic Republic of Iran will have newer scenarios,” he added.

Deploring the inaction from the UK, France and Germany in saving the nuclear deal, Amir Abdollahian said the US and the European troika have pushed the JCPOA towards death with their behavior.

For his part, Danish envoy Jesper Vahr said it is necessary for all JCPOA signatories to fulfill their commitments.

He also voiced Denmark’s support for the Iran nuclear accord and the efforts to salvage it.

Iran has already made it clear that the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, from which the previous US administration withdrew in 2018, would by no means be renegotiated, and that the only way for the US to rejoin the agreement is to lift the sanctions against Tehran fully and verifiably.
