Iran Condemns Israeli Violence against al-Quds Residents

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – The Foreign Ministry of Iran condemned the Zionist regime’s acts of aggression against the residents of al-Quds (Jerusalem), calling for an immediate end to such brutal Israeli measures.

In a statement released on Saturday, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Saeed Khatibzadeh hailed the resistance of the Palestinian people, particularly the youths in al-Quds.

He also urged international bodies to take action in order to put an end to the Israeli regime’s inhumane moves against the defenseless Palestinian people and the desecration of al-Aqsa Mosque.

The Iranian spokesperson pointed to the continuation of occupation and the Zionists’ crimes against the Palestinians and stressed the importance of support for resistance until the liberation of Palestine, Press TV reported.

“The Palestinian land belongs to the Palestinian people and the Zionist regime is a usurping and occupying regime,” he said.

The Iranian spokesperson added that the Palestinian issue could be settled only by holding a referendum among the main inhabitants of the Palestinian land.

Israeli police and settler violence erupted in the area on Thursday night and continued through Friday, leaving 110 Palestinians wounded and 50 more arrested.

It came after hundreds of Israeli settlers took to the streets in the Old City of Jerusalem al-Quds on Thursday, chanting “Death to Arabs” and “Arabs get out” as they protested through the city center in a move they claimed was to “restore Jewish dignity” in Jerusalem al-Quds.
