Iran Keeps US Off Persian Gulf’s Northern Part: Parliament Speaker

TEHRAN (Tasnim) – While the American military presence in the region has caused a gap between the southern and northern parts of the Persian Gulf, Iran will never allow the US to have access to the northern areas, Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf said.

In remarks at a conference on Wednesday, Qalibaf slammed the presence of foreign military forces in the region as the source of threats and insecurity.

The foreign military forces, above all the Americans, have destroyed the economic opportunities available in the region, the speaker said, adding, “The existence of US forces in the region has resulted in a gap and rift between the south and north of the Persian Gulf.”

“This is obvious and definite that strong Iran has practically shown that the US will never have access to the Persian Gulf’s north and the American moves will have no effect there. The Islamic Republic of Iran proved that it has cut the US hands off the north of the Persian Gulf,” Qalibaf stated.

He further said the foreigners have deployed military forces to the region in order to interfere in the process of supply of energy and ensure security of the Zionist regime.

The Iranian speaker expressed hope that all regional countries would join hands to evict the US and other foreign forces, who pose a security threat, from the region.

In May 2020, Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei said the Persian Gulf belongs to the nations living there, and those are the ones responsible for ensuring its security.

“The Persian Gulf belongs to the nations living there. Its security is the duty of these nations, & Iran with its long coastlines has a key role in keeping the security of this region. By God’s grace we will do our part. This is our historical, geographical & regional duty,” the Leader said in a series of tweets published on the Twitter page of Ayatollah Khamenei on the occasion of the National Persian Gulf Day.

The Leader also said that a “wise and rational collective policy” in favor of the people of the region cannot be achieved while foreign forces are present in the Persian Gulf.

“The #PersianGulf is our home & the place for the presence of the great #IranianNation. The shores of the Persian Gulf & much of the Gulf of Oman, belong to this nation, & it should be present there. It should demonstrate its power. We’re a powerful nation with a great history,” said another post in the Leader’s Twitter account.
